Welcome to the forum. That was my publishers decision. You are among the first to notice so congratulations. It took me by surprise too. We will be putting more info on that design decison shortly. If you look right above the picture of the book at <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.aent.org">www.aent.org</a><!-- w -->, you will see the Alef and Taw in normal position. Also in the book the alap beet is properly rendered- as is every letter of Aramaic. I will let him explain it further.
