Acts 19:24-35
#4
This process of substitution is not uncommon within LXX and Greek Apostolic writings when compared to their Hebrew/Aramaic counterparts.
Here's a few words describing what I mean:
  • Aram Naharayim/Beith Nahrin => Mesopotamia (Strong's H763; Strong's G3318; SEDRA3 1:383)
  • Mitzrayim/Misrayin => Egypt (Strong's H4714; Strong's G125; SEDRA3 1:1830)
  • Akko/Akku => Ptolemais (Strong's H5910; Strong's G4424; SEDRA3 1:2312)
  • Y'wani/Yaunaya => Hellenist (Strong's H3125; Strong's G1675; SEDRA3 1:1342)
The Greek words have different meaning than their Hebrew/Aramaic 'equivalents' when describing the same place.
