I don't think that's their official position at all. It's just that the Vulgate was used in their liturgy because the liturgy was all in Latin and they needed a version in their own language.
But they are staunch Greek primacists, from my experience. (Although my wife is R.C. - but an Aramaic primacist! <!-- s
