DSS, Septuagint and Peshitta Tanakh - carlosmendoza - 02-06-2013 Hello. I want to ask about some of the variations in the reading between the Masoretic Text and the DSS and Septuagint. In Jeremiah 10:3-11 the Masoretic Text have a larger part of Jeremiah that the DSS and the Septuagint. The words in Italics are omitted by the DSS and the Septuagint. Quote:3For the practices of the peoples are worthless; If you read you can look an insertion in the text, because the sequence of events is cut by some praising and then the text continues with the false idols. In this verse the Peshitta Tanakh agree with the Masoretic Text or the Septuagint/DSS? The Septuagint agree more with the DSS than the Masoretic Text. Is the Peshitta Tanakh agree with the DSS or the Septuagint or the Masoretic Text? Thanks, Re: DSS, Septuagint and Peshitta Tanakh - bar Sinko - 02-07-2013 Using the CAL targum search <http://cal1.cn.huc.edu/searching/targumsearch.html>, I found that both the Peshitta and the targum Jonathan include the italicized passages. bar Sinko |
