website on ancient history - enarxe - 02-26-2009 Shalom all, I have been reading recently several articles from http://www.livius.org, mostly written by Jona Lendering http://www.livius.org/about.html I'm no historian so cannot say if all there is true but for me it was just what I needed - some nice overviews of the rulers, conflicts, nations, ancient cities, etc. For an example see: http://www.livius.org/ha-hd/harran/harran.html or http://www.livius.org/ea-eh/edessa/edessa.html I thought that some of you may like it. Jerzy Re: website on ancient history - Doug - 02-26-2009 Hey, folks! Be careful navigating the above-referenced site. When I clicked "Other" at the top of the page, my BitDefender blocked a nasty (http://www.bitdefender.com/VIRUS-153-en ... don.I.html). -Doug "Whitey" Jackson Re: website on ancient history - enarxe - 02-27-2009 Doug, With all respect, I think what you gave is a an example of a false alarm. There is nothing in that web page that could possibly infect your computer. The only "active" content referenced there is a tracker javascript from google-analytics, pretty harmless. Just read your warning: Quote:This worm spreads through IRC and is in fact a collection of backdoors, trojans, ddos programs and exploits, all packed in one executable file. The worm arrives as an exe file, through Mirc. It must have been completely coincidental that this IRC/Mirc stuff was triggered while you were browsing that page, or your bitdefender has some pretty bad piece of a virus detection algorithm. Peace and blessings, Jerzy Re: website on ancient history - Doug - 02-27-2009 Hi, Jerzy. I appreciate your feedback. All the same, when I click a link and my anti-virus software blocks something, that's enough for me to tell people to be careful. That was my warning. <!-- s ![]() ![]() ![]() -Whitey |
