Question for Paul - BrotherLarry - 03-03-2008 Shlama Akhi Paul, I was wondering if 1st John 2:19 would qualify for the poetry section. Menan (from us / of us) is used 5 times. Am I dreaming this or is 1st John absolutely loaded to the gills with all kinds of parallelism?!?!?!? I'll take a look. Re: Question for Paul - Christina - 03-03-2008 Speaking of 1st John, I noticed that the Peshitta says "false Messiah" in all the verses where the Greek says "antichrist". What's the story there? I posted this before but no one answered me the first time Dave Re: Question for Paul - BrotherLarry - 03-03-2008 Christina Wrote:Speaking of 1st John, I noticed that the Peshitta says "false Messiah" in all the verses where the Greek says "antichrist". It seems odd the more I think about it though... because the Greek usually uses the prefix "pseudo-" for 'false'. pseudo-prophetes for 'false prophet, etc. I'm not sure why Zorba (forum expression for 'Greek translator') did not follow suit here as well with 'pseudo-Christos.' You'd think he would of !!! ....hmmmm <!-- s ![]() ![]() ![]() Shlama w'Burkate, Larry Kelsey Re: Question for Paul - Christina - 03-03-2008 BrotherLarry Wrote:Christina Wrote:Speaking of 1st John, I noticed that the Peshitta says "false Messiah" in all the verses where the Greek says "antichrist". "Meshikha Dagala" (lit., "Lying Messiah") is the usual term used in Aramaic.
