A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work today in my vineyard. He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went. And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. Can someone explain something to me? The answer they gave Meshikha, the "first", makes perfect sense - right? Then why does the Old Scratch read the "last" 0yrx0 ? Such a reading is nonsense and misses the point and is obviously not original. Bonus question for extra credit - what critical explanation can be given for this (hint: a very strange Greek manuscript also has this same reading. What's that manuscript's name?) Easy Akhi Paul... The only other place where this appears is... CODEX BEZAE. The only place where it was found-since it is a "family of one" is the same place Old Scratch was found: St Catherine's Monastery. In short, as the saying goes, "it's all Greek to me." Shlama w'burkate Andrew Gabriel Roth

Extra credit - if you can demonstrate how the error crept into the Greek manuscript known as Codex Bezae - then you will have killed the Old Scratch theory permanently. So - how did Codex Bezae (of which the "OS" Sinaitic palimpset is a revision of the Peshitta towards) - how did it corrupt this reading ??? I don't know how the mistake crept into the Greek and the OS, but if anyone has an idea - please let me know. Still a horrendously ridiculous reading, though. Fk^rwbw 0ml4 Peshitta.org
