Suitable for framing??

Lamsa's material can be useful, but I would never recommend any of his books [or frame a picture of him on the wall like a saint] to anyone due to the way that he explains away so many miracles, etc. I sometimes wonder how he avoided excomunication by the CoE for some of the stuff he wrote. For instance:

"The Gospel does not state how the bread was produced nor how it was increased but satisfying the hunger of this huge crowd with the means at hand was a miracle. It is contrary to Eastern custom to bring back stale bread which would have to be thrown to the birds or given to strangers. The men who had previously stated they did not have enough, suddenly display many loaves which they produce from their garments and bags. This looks like magic or even a miracle to the hungry."

"A boy was willing to share with the crowd. When he did this, others who had concealed their bread and now realizing Jesus had finished preaching and that they were about to return home, produced the food saved in their garments and bags and offered it to the hungry crowd."

"According to Aramaic style of speech, walking on the sea means walking by the sea or along the shore." (Gospel Light, p. 338)

It can even being questioned whether he believed in a physical resurrection [as opposed to purely spiritual], which if true would place him among the Gnostics and not any type of orthodox Christianity whatsoever:

"The ascension of Jesus was a spiritual transformation. Jesus rose up from death and was taken up into the heavenly realm in a spiritual body, freed from all physical limitation. He was seen alive and ascending to heaven only by those whose spiritual vision had been strengthened by faith in him." (More Light on the Gospel, p. 151)
