Please pray for me, Akhay
#31
Thanks for all your prayers, they have been answered. From a combination of surgical and non-surgical procedures (including a dental appliance - thanks Akhi Otto), my sleep is completely normal now.

Akhi Keith, just thought you might be interested in the scientific stats:

I was diagnosed with Moderate Sleep Apnea in November of 2003.

Stats (11/30/03)
=====

AHI -> 29 (moderate)
Lateral AHI -> 12.8 (moderate)
Supine AHI -> 86 (severe)
Total Episodes -> 117 (101 hypopneas, 16 apneas)
Baseline O2 -> 97%
Low O2 -> 83%
Weight -> 195
Neck size -> 17
BMI -> 27%

I had the Pillar Palatal Implants on 6/24/04. I was part of the clinical study. They were just approved by the FDA three weeks ago for treating apnea. I was one of the "responders". I underwent a full polysomnogram 90 days after the procedure:

Stats (9/27/04)
=====

AHI -> 17 (moderate)
Lateral AHI -> 1.4 (normal)
Supine AHI -> 64 (severe)
Total Episodes -> 85 (all hypopneas)
Baseline O2 -> 98%
Low O2 -> 86%
Weight -> 195
Neck size -> 17
BMI -> 27%

On the very next night, 9/28/04, I underwent a full polysomnogram wearing an adjustable mandibular repositioning dental appliance:

Stats (9/28/04)
=====

AHI -> 0.3 (none)
Lateral AHI -> 0.0 (none)
Supine AHI -> 0.3 (none)
Total Episodes -> 2 (both hypopneas)
Baseline O2 -> 98%
Low O2 -> 97%
Weight -> 195
Neck size -> 17
BMI -> 27%

Life is good again. I'm dreaming for the first time in years....technicolor dreams! <!-- s:biggrin: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/biggrin.gif" alt=":biggrin:" title="Big Grin" /><!-- s:biggrin: -->

Akhi Keith - your patients may want to try this combination of treatments rather than the iron lung! Those palatal implants are an easy, 10-minute procedure in the office with local anes.

Shlama Akhi Paul,

Glory be to God for this good news!
I was diagnosed with multiple stones (kidney stones is what they meant). I passed one painlessly a few weeks ago. When they get hung up in the urinary tract they can cause a person to lose a lot of sleep tossing and turning from the pain. I'm sure my loss of sleep couldn't compare with yours though akhi.

I have quite a few doctors in my family, Keith.

This stuff is off topic in this forum.

Nevertheless, let me tell you that I consider US medical community as extremely corrupt and dishonest. I know whereof I speak, because I've done quite a lot of medical research on various specific topics. Read Garry Null, the link I already referenced, for more details.

The fact that US doctors generally oppose universal health care should speak for itself. Those doctors who oppose universal health care are crooks who only want to line their own pockets.

Most doctors in US and Canada are no better than pill pushers, the sales clerks for the extremely corrupt pharma companies. The latest Vioxx disaster is yet another item in this long litany of disasters.

Not to speak of out and out crooks like Dr. Atkins, pushing their low-carb madness. These guys are evil, and are destroying the health of the nation.

I will not discuss this subject further on this forum. Send me private message if you want to hear more.

Yuri.

Yuri,

When someone has a limited education (as you do) and publishes volumes of material defending a subject which is indefensible one must develop a personality which places him at a distance from scholars. These people reside on the fringe of academia and spout opinions regarding subjects outside their field of knowledge (limited though it may be). Once again you have obscured the facts. I am pleased to hear you will not pursue this anymore in public. I hope then you will take this post as the final say reagrding your insulting personality. Your initial salvo was inappropriate for this forum as is your calling me a crook. I am a Physician and I oppose Universal Health Care coverage.

When you, as a Canadian, have very little clue what health care is like in this country then your opinion about that health care is almost worthless as your less than scholarly approach to Peshitta primacy. I am insulted by your attitude but, having read your past posts on the internet, your insulting remarks are predictable and expected.

Hopefully you have deceived your own physican about your true beliefs about him/her. Your belief that health care should be free is as naive as is a belief that your books should be published and given away free since the only reason you sell those books is to line your own pockets. Has anyone here ever attacked the integrity of your profession like you hve mine?

Again, I ask you to be honest (at least with yourself), how many physicians do you know personally who have ever performed an operation to line their own pockets? I won't expect an answer in public but hopefully you can answer that question to yourself.

Keith
