Original Jewish Calendar Reconstruction Project
#1
Hey everyone,

I'm working on a reconstruction of the original Jewish calendar that was in effect in the times of Yeshu` based upon new moons and sunset times instead of the day standardization formulas set down (allegedly) by Hillel II in the 300's. It seems that Hillel's formula originally worked, but now (~1700 years later) it is out of sync with the moon cycles. With the margin of error his algorithm has, it might be off a day or two rewinding it back to the life of Yeshu`, but does anyone know if there is a date that we can pin down to synchronize my model and the standard Jewish Calendar with the Biblical accounts in the Peshitta? More specifically, if we had an epoch to work from within the 19 year leap-cycle that we could nail down hard I could set my program (when finished) to generate calendars along with the dates of holidays and other events, all the way back up to and beyond present day in synch with the way our Messiah and his disciples would have kept time.

(Yes, akkai, this is the new conundrum of which deprives me of sleep at night. :-) )

Thanks for your support :-)

As for Biblical, I'm still trying to figure out how Tishrei became the first month, when it's Nissan that's ordained in the OT, and how Rosh HaShonnah became the new-years celebration. ~shrug~ :-)

Can anyone think of a Biblical epoch? I remember hearing a proof somewhere down the lines where a significant day in the timeline of the crucifixion was a double-sabbath, an event that only happened once in X number of years or something?

AGR would probably be able to help you heaps on this issues. He is still in mourning though I think. He knows heaps about the whole Sabbath-Sabbath thing and Jesus death/resurrection.
