Deut 23.2
#1
The controversial Deut 23.2 has often been understood to refer to either an 'illegitmate child' not being allowed to enter the assembly of Mar Yah, or in some cases the word is understood as 'mongrel'. This controversy stems from the meaning of the word used in the MT which is 'mamzer'. Can anyone tell me what the Aramaic word is used here and what possible meanings it may have. Please list as many possibilities as you can. Thanks! <!-- sSmile --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smile.gif" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /><!-- sSmile -->
