Acts 2:47
#1
Is this a splitto?

Acts 2:47, variant of Byzo and Alex say world (like Peshitta) while Western says people. I thought they may have a common root, so I checked it ou, but they don't seem to. However, I noticed the words are quite similar, in spelling AND pronounciation. Alma and ama. It is likely Zorba was a little confused, giving us a split word. Me hope so

Shlama akhi Chris,

Unfortunately 'ema' (nation, Gentiles, people) and 'elma' (world, age, eternity) don't have a common root. 0ml9 is already in root form and can't be reduced. The root of 0m9 is M9

I think a hard-shell Greek primacist would just smirk, shrug his shoulders and say "Bah! Humbug! Copyist error!", and unfortunately, in this instance, he may very well be right.

Yeah, I knew the root was wrong, but they sound so much the same in Aramaic... Ah well, no big deal, I am 'doing your one up' and then I only need 2 more for the second BSWA which has 12 examples each. After that, I propably am 'sick' of split words - I am being spoilt with so much awesome evidence

But then I can start highlighting the other forums
