I enjoy the thoroughness of Payne-Smith's Compendious Syriac Dictionary. A case in point would be where in Ephesians 3:9 the Peshitta Text has "dispensation of the mystery" while the Greek text has "fellowship (koin-oh-nee-uh) of the mystery". The Aramaic word 'medabranotha' is defined as such in the Compendious Syriac Dictionary---
(a) guidance, direction ; steering; rule, government, administration; stewardship, leadership (b) manner of proceeding, action, course © prudence, foresight (d) a province, prefecture; the Divine dispensation, the providence, government or economy of God; often used of our Lord's whole doings with mankind esp. of His incarnation and life on earth, and in the plural, of His acts in the flesh.
The Greek is not on the same page, so to speak.....

.... if OIKONOMIA were used instead of KOINONIA in the Greek text, they would be saying essentially the same thing. We get our word 'economy' from the Greek OIKONOMIA.
