Peshitta Audio Files
#1
Hi everyone

I am looking for the Peshitta reading in mp3 files or cd.

I found this one <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.sermon-online.de/search.pl?lang=en&id=19533">http://www.sermon-online.de/search.pl?lang=en&id=19533</a><!-- m --> but it is not the Peshitta Version.

Please help me.

Here is the best place I know, that is straight from the Eastern Peshitta text, spoken by a native speaker and Qasha of The Assyrian Church or the East. I am hoping to talk with him soon about getting all his recordings on CD.

I spoke with Qasha Athanasis, on the phone this afternoon, and he said that he has completed the 4 Gospels in audio recordings of the Eastern Peshitta in the original form, as found in the early Manuscripts, and is hoping to have the audio CD's ready in about a month. I'll announce it here once they are made available.

Mathew and Mark are all in there: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/user/Athanasis1000?feature=watch">http://www.youtube.com/user/Athanasis1000?feature=watch</a><!-- m -->
As much as I could get from it, it seems the pronunciation is "Assyrian" pronunciation which is slightly different at times than what one finds in Grammar books (w instead of v, etc.) But still much closer to the Eastern according to the books, than some of the O instead of A (Western) audios one can also find around.

The quality of some of those videos is not that good at time, that's why I expressed my interest in something more "professionally" done - CD/DV and such. Something that I could also have going in the background while doing other tasks, without my years starting to hurt.

This one has Our Father: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jT1QGTMLvQ">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jT1QGTMLvQ</a><!-- m -->

I know this is an old thread, but I am curious if there is any update on the CDs or is anyone aware of another resource? I have found some readings on YouTube, but I am hoping to follow someone's referral, as I don't know the quality/accuracy of these videos.

I like the meditation version of the Lord's Prayer found at JesusSpokeAramaic.com (http://jesusspokearamaic.com/shop/CDs/Lords-Prayer-CD), but was hoping to find more.

It has been several years since Thirdwoe mentioned anything about an update, but he was last online back at the end of February, and has not seen this latest question. He is the only one who can answer it and we trust to do so when he returns.

The readings on YouTube come from a variety of sources. Be careful, there are a number of cults using the Lord's Prayer "Abun D'Bashmayo" for their own purposes. Pray in your spirit and with your understanding.

Unfortunately, the CDs never materialized and after numerous attempts to follow up with Athanasis, I gave up.

I think that perhaps Shamasha Paul might be able to ask Athanasis if they might be finished and available to purchase.

The "Jesus Spoke Aramaic" website offers the full audio NT of the Western version of the Peshitta what is called the Peshitto with the western 5 books added in and all the western readings and added verses from the Greek. The reader there is reading from an Ashuri script rather than an Estrangela script and she reads rather fast in her particular Hebrewish accent.
