help on fonts
#1
Hi everyone

I am about to write an article with quotations in Serto and I found the fonts in the site of Beth Mardutho.

1) Which one of the serto fonts (JERUSALEM, SERTO MALANKARA, MARDIN, KHARPUT OR BATNAN) is more user-friendly?

2) I found very difficult to modify the shapes of the characters in order to write contestual form (e.g. an initial form,or a final form) isolated. Could anybody help me?

Thanks

Albert

Meltho fonts are OTF format, so they will automatically generate the proper contextual forms on Windows XP to present, Linux, and the latest version of Mac OS X. In order to get the various forms isolated you'll need to use a Zero-Width-Joiner (ZWJ) on the appropriate sides. Typing that character differs between operating systems, though.

As for "user friendly" all Meltho fonts map the same way, so the choice is purely aesthetic.

Thanks Steve

what do you mean by ZWJ?

In the user's manual of the Meltho Fonts, it shows that the ZWJ should be the combination CTRL+ALT+V but it does not seem to work

Thanks again

Shlama Alberto,

If you only need an occasional word to type maybe this will help : http://www.logos.com/shibboleth ?

I'm not an expert in word/fonts but I think that in order for others to be able to help you they need to know what operating system and word processor you are using.
