Syriac Bible iPhone app
#1
Shlama,

Does anyone have this? If so is it the Peshitta?

The writing is too all for me to tell and I'd like to know before buying.

Thanks!

Shlama,

the app states it is by the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch, so this would be the PeshittO, i'm thinking! still, a worthy app to have even though i prefer the Eastern Peshitta! gonna have to splurge the $5.99 price and get this! i've been waiting for a long time for an Aramaic NT app to go along with the Hebrew TN"K one i have! now i can use my iphone alone to teach from each week! <!-- s8) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/cool.gif" alt="8)" title="Cool" /><!-- s8) -->

Shlama,

I've been wanting, for quite some time now, to bring at least a light version of dukhrana to the ios platform. Perhaps it is about time I get down to business and actually hack something together...! :-)

@Jeremey: What would be the most important core features you would like to see in such an app? Also, the application you mentioned above, does it properly display Syriac characters on your iphone or do they use some other script?

Shlama akhi Lars,

A true Eastern Peshitta app would be a total blessing!!

The app as far as I can tell (I haven't downloaded yet) uses Serto script.

As for what I'd want in one - an entire Bible range would be awesome, but I'd settle for the NT only
Searchable features (don't know how in depth you could get, but a Dukhrana-style set would be a dream to have in an app!
Otherwise, I don't know. Maybe others could chime in here.

Blessings!

Shlama,

I went ahead and bought the app

Definitely the Peshitto NT with Psalms in Serto

You read individual pages only, having to go in and out of them, sort of like a PDF, but without the accessibility.
[edit:] played around a little more: you can swipe right to next page, making continuous reading easier than first thought.

Text also contains images here and there.

No search features available.

Not the best set up but I guess it works for having basic access on the go.
