Hebrews 1:6 is missing?
#1
Shalom!

Amid my biblical readings, I came across the text of Hebrews 1. In verse 6, Paul seems, in his explanation, the same structure with the 1st Testament passages. But the fact is that until now we did not find what he says in verse 6, in some part of the 1st Testament. Where is that Paul was ruled for what he claims in this verse. Does anyone have an idea or proof that this verse exists in the 1st Testament?
I confess that I was looking in the Bible of Jerusalem, and in Deuteronomy 32:43 there seems to give support to verse 6 of Hebrews 1. But when I look in the Masoretic texts, this text inesistia. And now?

Are you referring to where it says "And let all the angels of God worship Him"? Your reference to Deuteronomy 32:43 is on track, but only in the Septuigant. Here are four translations I could pull from online (I'm not at home),

"Rejoice, ye heavens, with him, and let all the angels of God worship him; rejoice ye Gentiles, with his people, and let all the sons of God strengthen themselves in him; for he will avenge the blood of his sons, and he will render vengeance, and recompense justice to his enemies, and will reward them that hate him; and the Lord shall purge the land of his people." (LXX)

"Therefore praise his people o you nations; for the blood of his servants shall be avenged, and he will take vengeance upon his adversaries, and will give absolution to his land and his people." (Lamsa Bible / Peshitta OT)

"Rejoice, O nations, with His people; For He will avenge the blood of His servants, And will render vengeance on His adversaries, And will atone for His land and His people." (NASB / MT)

"Praise his people, ye nations, for he will revenge the blood of his servants: and will render vengeance to their enemies, and he will be merciful to the land of his people." (Douay Rheims / Vulgate)

So here's a question, is the Peshitta quoting the LXX here? Or is it simply that we don't have a text in either Hebrew or Aramaic that still includes this verse? Anybody have the DSS handy? I can check when I get home.

Many also point to Psalm 97:7, of which both Peshitta and LXX say angels for what the Hebrew elohim, but I doubt there's a connection linguistically (or even theologically).

Hey BenEfraym,

The Dead Sea Scroll 4QDeutq contains a clause similar to that present in the Greek translation (Septuagint) of Deuteronomy 32:43 ?Rejoice, O heavens, together with Him; and bow down to Him all you elohim, for He will avenge the blood of His sons? - Dead Sea Scroll 4QDeutq

The Septuagint reads "Rejoice, ye heavens, with Him, and let all the angels of Elohim worship Him." Deuteronomy 32:43

The oldest copy of the Hebrew text we can study today, lacks this phrase from Deuteronomy 32:43, as was present over 1000 years before the copy which lacks the words.

Also, the last line in Psalm 97:7 is similar to Deut 32:43, as seen in the Greek Septuagint translation which reads thus, ?...let all His angles worship Him.? And to this the Aramaic Peshitta translation of the Old Testament agrees, reading "...worship Him, all His angels." And furthermore, the Latin Vulgate agrees, reading "...Adore Him, all you His angels", while the Hebrew text has this reading "...worship him, all you elohim."

Thanks for bringing to light this important fact. Well, I did not know about it.

How I can watch it this manuscript which you mentioned? Is there any site that has it?
