David Bauscher Interlinear-Plain English Parallel

Does anyone have this edition of Bauscher's translation? I know this is a dumb question (based on the title), but I'm assuming that this edition of his translation is in similar format to that of Jay P. Green's Hebrew-Greek-English Interlinear Bible (With original languages with English translations between the lines along with a more "plain" English translation in the side columns)?

You can view his Interlinear at Biblos.com. The Western Peshitto text of the UFBS/UBS 1905/1920 is what he has there for the most part and his renderings are side by side of each Aramaic word, which he shows in Hebrew caracters...most of it does not have a running translation, while in some places in John, it does had that feature under the verses. Dave 1st did his Interlinear work, then from those renderings crafted his regular translation the way he believed it should be presented...which you will see, is not always faithful to the text he uses.

Or is there any translation that sticks to the Crawford Codex of the Book of revelations without subjecting theology?

I do...what are the verses/pasages are you wondering about? And do you know how the Crawford Codex reads in any given verse? If so, what is your source?

They bot have his footnotes and can be viewed to give one a better idea as to whether they would want to spend money to get the complete texts of these works or not. <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/huh.gif" alt="" title="Huh" /><!-- s --> I do not know about the layout of the PARALLEL version, but you can safely bet that the the Interlinear in the Parallel Version will be styled the same as in his plain Interlinear. The Parallel version most likely will have the Interlinear text on one page and the plain English adjacent to it.

Hey Chuck, I do not have any particular verse in mind, I was wondering if there is a true to the Crawford Revelation Text in general being I do not know Aramaic and would not know if an English translation strays or not. I was wondering if some one that knows Aramaic and has already read Dave's Revelation knows if he held true to the Crawford Codex of Revelation, or does he take liberty to interject stuff there as he has supposedly done in the rest of his translation.

Dave for the most part is pretty true to the text he uses. I don't say that his translation is without its merits, it's just not the Peshitta NT, but the Peshitto version instead. Which he seems to want to cloud the truth about, ignoring the distinction, and trying to craft his own history based on his ideals, rather than on any known facts.

And besides a few of his unique doctrinal positions, and some of his preferred interpretations of certain passages and verses, he stays true to the text he used. But I don't take anything for granted, so I always check when I study a verse in translation.

Andrew Roth does not use the Crawford Text of Revelation, if I read his 1st edition notes correctly. And I am not sure which MSS Janet Magiera used for her Western Five translations, but can ask her to find out. Other than these three, I don't know of another Aramaic/Syriac Interlinear of Revelation other than the one at Dukhrana.com. Which uses the BFBS/UBS text for Revelation; though I think they may add the Crawford MSS to the tool one day.

Say what is your personal opinion as to the best base text for the Western Five? Greek or Aramaic?
If Aramaic should one use the BFBS/UBS or Crawford? If Greek would it be the Textus Receptus, or ______ ?
And do you think the Text for Revelation should be Crawford or what?

I haven't done any in depth research in that area, Will. So, I really don't know which I would consider "the best". I think over all they would read very much the same, but for some here's and there's...But what like to do is take a number of verses and check them against what the early Christian ages had in their copies, to see which readings are oldest, when there are variants, and try to find out which is the more correct.

I have done this for many places where the Alexandrian text reads differently than the Majority text or the TR text. So far that I have seen, over the whole NT, the Peshitta agrees much more with the Majority/TR text than the Alexandrian text...though not always, but about 80% of the time.

In reading Mr. Roth's notes for Rev 1:16, he points out an error in the Crawford MSS, where it reads "a sharp spirit" is seen coming out of the mouth of the Messiah, rather than "a sharp sword." Mr. Bauscher's version has "a sharp lance" with no mention of the error in his notes for that verse.

I finally got some more English translations of the Aramaic so I will be able to compare their Books of Revelation against Bauscher's Revelation translation. I still do not know which text these others used for Revelation though, so although I can check him against these others I still will not know just what the Crawford codex says. <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/sad.gif" alt="" title="Sad" /><!-- s -->
