Acts 28:1 Meliti, not Melita?

When I read phonetically the PEshitta to English using Dukhrana.com it reads a Meliti, not as Melita. Right?

Meliti, is the ancient name of the island Cephalonia, which is a big island at the coast of Greece.

There is lots of geological and historical argument to doubt the traditional 'malta' (Melita) translation for reasons which are known at biblecritics web-sites that point out that vipers never have been at Malta.
