Babai the Great - The Book of Union - now online
#3
Shlama Akhi Paul,

I found this from this site: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.syriac.talktalk.net/chron_tab6.html">http://www.syriac.talktalk.net/chron_tab6.html</a><!-- m -->

Quote:According to Arthur V??bus, there are many gospel quotations in the Book of Union quoted from an Old Syriac gospel manuscript and only a few quotations have been vulgarized during transmission, [38].

[38]'Studies of the History of the Gospel Text in Syriac', V??bus, A. Corpus Scriptorum Christianorum Orientalium: Subsidia, Tome 3, Louvain 1951 (volume 1) and 1987 (volume 2).

I did not get it. What are they talking about? The Book of Union is full of quotations matching Peshitta, against Old Syriac. And what they mean by "only a few quotations have been vulgarized during transmission" ?

And just for reference, Hebrews 2:9 is quoted exactly like the Eastern Peshitta (here, line 29).
