Nazareans and The Assyrian Church of The East
#1
Brothers and Sisters...

Please read the introduction as found in this online book...It says there that the Assyrian Church of The East were originaly called "Nazereans" by themselves and that they are descendants of the Israelite Tribes of Northern Israel, who were taken captive when the Assyrian Empire came and displaced the Jews of the Northern lands, replacing them with other peoples of conqured lands, later called "Samaritans"...

I have just heard about all this from this book...and want to see if these things are so.

Shlama Thirdwoe. Have you read Dr Asahel Grant's book? Really interesting reading.

Ps - tread lightly with Assyrians about this since they are usually very hostile to this theory.

Ok Paul...I have never heard about this before, not trying to stir anything up. Should I delete the post?

No not at all. I'm just thinking it's best to let you know that most Assyrians are fiercely attached to the Assyrian identity. I'm not one of those. I'm open to almost everything. I personally find this theory fascinating. I love dr Grant's book. It's a great read. He might have been onto something.

You'll find the majority of Assyrians reaction to be a deeply seated survival mechanism. Assyrians typically see the suggestion that they are not Assyrian as an attempt to strip them of their ancestral claims to northern Iraq.
