Shlama Akhi Roger:
The origin of the name Yehudah (Judah) is derived from Genesis 29:35. Judah was the fourth and last natural son of Leah, the first wife of Jacob. At Judah's birth, Leah exclaimed, "Now I will praise the LORD", "hapaam odeh et-YHVH" Yehudah is derived from the root "hod", meaning, glory, splendour, majesty, beauty, grandeur, magnificence. This definition is from the Reuben-Alcalay Hebrew-English Dictionary. Hod can also mean "honour".

Thank you Mr. Silver,

I think that is beautiful! Let me make sure I have this correct, the name of Yehuda would mean, the words of praise, glory and honour to YHWH!

Our great Messiah would come from his blood line! Talk about majesty and beauty!
