John 21:25. World or Eternity?
#1
The root-word for World/Eternity/Age is the same, it is 'alma' the translator should choose the right one from context.

Now, we have a tradition, ages of translating and reading the same verse, even if we re-translate, we might make the same (wrong) assumption?

I was thinking about John 21:25.

Isn't this sentense slightly silly?
Quote:And there are also many other things, which Jesus did; which, if written out with particularity, the world itself, as I suppose, would not suffice for the books that would be written.

Such a parable, in many Bibles translated with 'the world cannot contain the books if they would be written' is not really convincing. Of course, it is just a hyperbole.

But what about 'eternity'? This is a lot less 'silly'

My version (However in Dutch)
Quote:And there are also many other things, which Jesus did; which, if written out with particularity, eternity, as I suppose, would not suffice to write the books that would be written.
