Romans 13:8 ?
#1
I notice in Pauls power point presentation he points out (please excuse unintended wordplay <!-- s:biggrin: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/biggrin.gif" alt="" title="Big Grin" /><!-- s:biggrin: --> ) that there is a wordplay around love and debtor in Luqa 7:41-42.
Do we also have on in Romans 13:8 ?
Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another....

Shlama,

yeah, there is definitely a sweet pun going on here! it could also be suggested that the word khawreh/khabreh (neighbor/companion) would have been intended to fit right into the love/debt khab pun.

the more you read the Peshitta, the more you find these types of puns all over the place. i've especially noticed them prevalent in Paul's letters -- he seemed to have a knack for these clever constructions!
