Looking at marqos 7:26, I found a mistranslation that has entered most English NT translations based on the Byzantine Greek source.

The KJV for Mark 7:26 (Byzantine text-type) has:
[26] The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.

The Westcott & Hort???s (Alexandrian text-type) Mark 7:26 has:
[26] she was a heathen woman, a native of Syrian Phoenicia and she begged him to drive the evil spirit out of her daughter.

The (Latin Vulgata text-type) has:
[26] For the woman was a Gentile, a Syrophenician born. And she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.

The Peshitto for Mark 7:26 has:
Now she was a pagan woman from Syro-Phoenicia, and she wanted him to cast out the evil spirit from her daughter.

You???ll notice that the KJV has ???the woman was a Greek???, the WH has ???she was a heathen woman???, the LV has ???for the woman was a Gentile??? and the Peshitto has ???now she was a pagan woman???.

The use of the word ???Greek??? instead of ???pagan??? is an obvious mistranslation of the word ???Hnafto??? which means pagan, heathen, foreigner, godless, and gentile.
Now how did they make such as mistake? that is very simple to answer. The Greeks were considered pagans by the Jewish community. I could easily see someone making that mistake.

In the case of this woman, the context makes it clear that the woman is a pagan/heathen/gentile, as the Canaanites followed different Gods than the God of the Jews.
The verses from matay and marqos makes it clear that the woman was a Canaanite and from the area of Soor and Saydon, and we know that that area spoke Aramaic, as well the woman engaged yeshu??? in a word play in matay 15:26-27 and marqos 7:27-28.

Thus the use of the word ???Greek??? in this case is wrong; and had it been really important for the NT writers to confirm that this woman was a Greek then they would have used the word ???yawnoyto??? instead.
