Mari/PEACE update
#1
Shlama all--

We have had a bit of a delay due to production issues, but we are working through it as quickly as possible. Here is what my publisher just told me. Remember, I have been going from his timetable. I want a new date as much as the next person, but I don't have it. I know that since Baruch wants to send me paper copies to proof--something he did not mention before--that it will take a few days for those to get to me from Vancouver, British Columbia. On the other hand, this delay is different. Going to pre-press layout is way different than trying to figure out what goes in the book. It is in layout/pre-press at least before Pesach. My hope was that the on-demand model would allow us to move faster than my publisher has, but there were other things he was dealing with over the last 2 weeks that I was not aware of. There is also some encouraging news as well, which I have bolded. Read on:

Shlama Akhi Andrew,

Ok lots of stuff happening which is why I've been offline for a while.

The possibility of having printed books for Pesach is now looking next to impossible, I suggest that we simply inform all interested parties that the book has gone for layout and prepress and printed books will NOT happen for Pesach. I do believe in miracles Akhi but there is NO WAY I want to mistate our delivery date.

Today was the first day I spent with Leon from New West Press and went over all of the layout specifications and I have a much clearer understanding of what they can and cannot do. I also found out how we are supposed to utilize the page for footnotes to make it professional like most Hebrew/English publications. Essentially the layout guy showed me how we can layout large blocks of footnotes to go over the bottom of both English and Aramaic pages to make it look VERY nice!!! I absolutely LOVE the way it looks now, but there will be some pages with a few inches of whitespace beneath the Aramaic simply because we want to keep a side by side verse by verse layout as much as possible.

So first things first. This last 10 or so days have not been any where near as productive as I expected. I met with Martti on April 6th but it wasn't until this last Friday that I/we saw the first proofs and I don't know whether you printed out and had a look at the sample but there were a few problems with it.

They have a digital press and are able to print within 24 hours of completing the layout however the bookcover will take longer to stamp etc however Marrti also recommended that we can use a laminated cover edition that is used in many hardcover applications that is durable and less costly, so I think this is a very good option.

Ok, let me go back through your emails and make sure I have updated all your requests, right now I'm headed off to supper so will look at this in a bit. Sorry for the delay in replying but I haven't been online much the last few days.

I can mail you a copy of the printed text so that you can see the text for yourself, but need your mailing address.

Blessings,

Baruch

So this is what I know at present. I am sorry to disappoint you folks but don't give up on us yet I beg you. Mari/PEACE is still going to happen in the near future. I want to see it as much as the rest of you as a physical book and so it will be. Please be patient and I will update with more news as soon as I have it.

Dear Andrew,

I'm sorry to hear this, but we all want a GOOD product for our money.

Remember how all of the first "translations" that 'you know who' did fell completely apart?

"Marrti also recommended that we can use a laminated cover edition".

See what your publisher here said above?

I don't know if you remember the first snail mail letter that I wrote to you, but I suggested doing the same thing.

I once bought a copy of David Stern's 'Jewish New Testament', well I accidently spilled a cup of water on it, and it's laminated cover just shed the water right off.

It wrinkled a few pages inside, but it didn't KILL the book!

I think that a laminated cover is a GREAT IDEA. And I for one, am all for it!

I thought that you *might* run into problems at productions end, and so you have.

We're ALL for you here Andrew, and I'm as eager as anyone else, which you already know, but I'd still like a great put together New Covenant to read from, that I can hold in my hands, and read in bed late at night (when I do my best studying).

Don't worry (BE HAPPY) and just give us a real quality product. We all appreciate your efforts!

Shlama all--here is the latest email exchange between myself and my publisher Baruch. It shouldn't be much longer now...

When Mari got delayed, I decided to take one more run through of the English. I told Baruch I would only need a few days and that he could use the time working on laying out the other sections. In spite of my being specific, he didn't think I would finish that fast and was shocked when I did so on schedule. I wrote him back and asked why he didn't believe me, and so he wrote this back, please look at the bold:

Shlama Akhi Andrew,

Why, why, why...indeed... <!-- sWink --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/wink1.gif" alt="Wink" title="Wink" /><!-- sWink -->
I will try to reserve no further doubts regarding your lightening fast accomplishments... and such things as set by your own internal clock... right hand in air palm facing forwards. <!-- sSmile --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smile.gif" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /><!-- sSmile -->

I hope to have read through all Shali's proofs by tomorrow night.

So akhi if you are ready for print then come Thursday I'll be putting down the final layout for print and there can be no turning back at this point, otherwise our pagination and what not could be a HUGE redo.

But from what I'm seeing with this last edit you did I really think you put the final touches on it this time.

Mari looking extremely good and I'm exceedlingly blessed to be part of this so now I trust that we are on the runway and cleared to go...

Blessings,

Baruch

So all the remained was my giving permission, so I wrote back:

Shlama Akhi Baruch,

Then YHWH replied: "Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay. "See, he is puffed up; his desires are not upright-- but the righteous will live by his faith."

Habakkuk 2:2-4

I walk by faith and not by sight. And while you may not like my using this line considering who said it to whom, I have to anyway: What you are going to do, do quickly.

My only caveat: Remember I have not seen the other stuff in final Word doc form, so if something is missing in the final pdf that needs to be there, you will have to start again. If you are sure you have everything I require though, then by all means move forward now!

My Brother in Messiah,

Andrew, I'm wondering about two things.

1. So, will Mari/P.E.A.C.E. be published before the month of "May" is gone?

I'm not trying to be pushy, I'm just thinking ahead, to adjust our budget.

2. Will we be able to order Mari/P.E.A.C.E. over the TELEPHONE?

I see that your new Natzri website has a 1-888 .......number.

Because of the devil's 'minion' that tries to control my online life, I would feel much better using the 'phone to order Mari/P.E.A.C.E. with, than at an online website.

So far, he's not hacked our Amazon account (although he will NOT allow me to review books at Amazon), but he hacked my Pay Pal account, which Pay Pal then closed.

So, can I order over the telephone? Thanks for your help Andrew!

Shlama Akhi Albion,

I have forwarded your request to my publisher. Hopefully he will respond directly to these very shortly. My ***opinion*** is the answers will be yes to both, but don't hold me to that as Baruch has the final say.

In any case, here is the latest:

Shlama Akhi Andrew,

Yes we will take telephone orders and I have arranged to have two parties make the shipments.
I do pray that YHWH protect us from the demonized hackers that would seek to destroy our service in Mashiyach.

I believe we are on target for a May printing akhi, but I will not know this for sure until the book bindery gives me the pickup date for the books and I cannot schedule the bindery until we've signed off on the final proof at the printer, but it looks to me like we should be printed by the end of this month. YHWH willing!

Blessings

Baruch

Shlama Akhi Andrew,

Yes we shall do it quickly! Let Elohim be true.

The final layout for the Appendix is not so time consuming as the main body where we have the English - Footnotes - Aramaic to contend with, but nevertheless you will see the final layout in either Word or InDesign before I submit it to Martti.

Have a great day,

Blessings,

Baruch
