So much insanity; so little time.
I will quote one verse from Colossians 3 used by Dave Blah Blah's argument:
"Whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus. .." (Colossians 3:17).
This, according to him, is supposed to refute Matthew 28:19. If I understand his argument, to baptize in the Name of The Lord Jesus means to say:"I baptize you in the name of the Lord Jesus".
This supposedly means Matthew 28:19 cannot be true, because the apostles baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ, according to Acts 2:38 and other verses in Acts.
If "in the name" means to speak the name, then Colossians 3:17 says we should tie our shoes while reciting the name of the Lord Jesus; we must blow our noses reciting the name of The Lord Jesus; we must recite it while chewing our food, reading a book, turning the page, drinking water, shaving, washing, brushing our teeth, and performing all bodily functions.
I would have to be reciting it while writing this and you would have to while reading it.
I think I make my point clear. The apostle Paul did not consult Dave Blah Blah before writing Colossians 3:17. That verse is used by Blah Blah to refute Matthew 28:19 and baptism in the Name of The Trinity.
As it stands in Dave's mind, it refutes everything ! There would be no time or energy
left to do anything but recite !
If the phrase,"In the Name", does not necessarily involve reciting these words as a verbal formula, then Acts does not contradict Matthew 28:19. It refers to the authority conferred to the apostles from God , Christ and The Holy Spirit. There is no division or disparity between Christ and His Father or The Holy Spirit.
Having fun,
