Hebrews 5:5-10
#2
Shlama Akhi Keith,

The literal reading of the Aramaic is:

Quote:"Likewise, also, the Messiah did not glorify Himself in that He became High Priest, but it is He Who said to Him: You are My Son, this day I have begotten You.

As also He said in another place: You are a priest (kumra) forever, in the likeness (damutha) of Melkizedek (righteous king).

And also, while He was clothed in flesh, he offered petition and supplication with strong crying and with tears to Him who was able to make Him alive from death. And He was heard.

And, although He was a Son, from the fear and the passion that he bore, He learned obedience.

And thus, He was perfected and He became for all those who obey Him, the cause of eternal life.

And He was appointed of God the High Priest in the likeness (damutha) of Mechizedek."

I agree the imagery being painted is one of His being ordained High Priest after His perfection and the resurrection.....but, of course, in the realm of God which is timeless then He must have been ordained for this role from before the creation of the universe....no?

These are always tough questions for me - I struggle with stuff like this. <!-- sSmile --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smile.gif" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /><!-- sSmile -->
