???Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his ANSWERS??? (NIV).
ANSWERS: That has been the usual translation (even Akhi Paul???s or Murdock???s), but think about this:
In previous verse 46 we read

kaqezomenon en mesw twn didaskalwn kai akouonta autwn kai eperwtwnta autouv
???sitting among the teachers, listening to them and ASKING THEM QUESTIONS???.
So it was the Teenager Jesus who was ASKING QUESTIONS (PNT[font=Estrangelo (V1.1)] Jwhl L04mw[/font] ), not inversely: teachers making questions to Him. Therefore, why should He ANSWER to them? I had always wondering about this. It???s possible, of course, to imagine that ???He was answering his own questions??? (if teachers couldn???t answer them), but it doesn???t sound too coherent... A possible explanation? Peshitta to the rescue!
