Matthew 11:12
#1
I've always found this verse a little difficult to translate.

The kingdom of heaven is forcefully ruled and only the violent ones snatch it (or something like this?)

(b.t.w. the Aramaic for violent is 'tyran' here)
But according to the Payne Smith lexicon, those words 'forcefully' and 'violent ones' also can mean' force.

Why would Jeshua really say: "Because John the Baptizer is in jail, the kingdom is snatched by violent ones?"

I'd rather say: He meant this:
And from the days of John the Baptizer, until now, the kingdom of heaven is powerfully ruled, and the strong (ones) seize it.

What would you say about this verse?
