Aramaic Primacy from an Unsual Source

What a great man, and wonderful book. Unfortunately His Eminence (God rest his soul) had this opinion:

In the first place, the original Aramaic poetry of Jesus has been irretrievably lost.

What a horrible thing to resort to believing! To even think the "words" of the Word were irretrievably lost......that they somehow needed to be reconstructed. I can only imagine what the history of Judaism would be if the original Hebrew of Moses were irretrievably lost, survived only in Egyptian translations where variants were rampant. I wonder how many sects Judaism would be splintered into over doctrinal disputes leading to ever-changing revisions of yet further translations into other languages....each sect having their own favorite translation because it supported their own doctrinal position.

Oh wait....I just described Christianity!

How could we have irretrievably lost the most important Words ever uttered in any language?

I agree, sadly most Christians are too self-absorbed to realize the implications of Aramaic primacy, I really hate to say this but it's the truth: the Church really is the most pathetic instution on the planet. While too many see the never ending divisions & disputes as "no big deal", the fact is to outsiders this picture does not look good at all! The fact that we don't have only ONE official text, makes all the difference - the Jews have the Masoretic text in Hebrew, the Muslims have the Quran in Arabic, both these groups accept no other text as authoritive. But us? The Vatican has the Vulgate, the Eastern Orthodox the LXX, the Assyrians the Peshitta, then we have the KJV-only crowd & the Alexandriatext crowds ect., ect., ect??? What a disaster!!!

Between you & me akhi had it not been for Yeshua Meshikha I wouldn't be a Christian, I have never struggled in my faith in Maran, but when it comes to my faith in His Church...But I know one day His Bride will be spotless and without blemish, she just needs a couple of good "spankings" from her loving Father, which will come prior to her bridegrooms return.
