Years ago, I wanted to learn it, but all the books I saw on Amazon used the western script, and I didn't have a teacher at the time, but at the same time I found an excellant teacher of Hebrew. So I've been learning that for years. Now I've found an Assyrian Grammar book in the eastern script, which has made me very happy.
I don't know how good it will be, but if anyone wants the link: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.lulu.com/content/445848">http://www.lulu.com/content/445848</a><!-- m -->
I don't know what the rules are about posting links so if that's a no no, please delete my post.
I just wanted to share my excitement about learning Assyrian <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!-- s -->

Shlama David,
Congratulations and let us know if you need help on your endeavour!
PS - links are not a problem.
PSS - it's Aramaic, not Assyrian. The Assyrian language was actually Akkadian, now extinct as a spoken tongue. It may be loosely referred to as Assyrian since modern Assyrians are the largest grouping that still speak it, but technically it's Aramaic.
