Unfortunately many of our people are unaware of the symbolism on the flag. Particularly disturbing is the imagery of two pagan deities, Shamash (the sun) and Assur (the pre-Christian deity). This flag was created recently by the AUA and the Beth-Nahrain political parties.

This pagan flag should not be anyway in our churches, especially not near the holy sanctuary as I've sometimes seen it.
