Red sea or sea of reeds
#1
There has been some controversy on the waters which the descendents of Israel crossed. 'Yam suph' is used in the Hebrew OT which can apparently mean 'sea of reeds', however traditional translations use 'Red sea', as does the septuagint. What does the Peshitta Tanakh say and can it also be taken as 'reed' sea or does the Aramaic word there unequivocally mean 'red' only?

I know this is an OT question but can anyone tell me the answer, please??
