The importance of original languages
#1
Shalom aleichem (Peace be with you)!

Ladies and gentlemen, excuse-me!
I'm interested in learning Aramaic and one friend of other forum said to me about the Peshitta. I'm learning Hebrew and I wish to learn Aramaic too. I'm not opposed to translate the Holy Bible to many languages, like English, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic... I am a person who wants to create one site with pages in many idioms. Paul, the apostle, used the Greek to preach the Gospel.
But, I believe that the christian theologians, pastors and until the missionaries can't despise the Bible in Hebrew and Aramaic, the original texts. I think the christians need to prefer the original texts, in the original languages. Someone wishes to learn about the history of U.S.A. and Australia. Where will we meet the origin of these countries? In Poland? In Hungary? In Saudi Arabia? No! In England.
So, Jesus the Nazarene is israeli, hebrew, jew. He isn't greek. He isn't roman. And his apostles were jews too, or gentios converted to the Judaism.
Also I believe in the existence of a code in the Bible, in Hebrew and maybe in Aramaic (because the Alphabet).
Also I am favorable the christians know, read the Talmud* and the Midrash* too, even if the christian person discord with the jew doctrine.

(*jew books).

Thank you!

Shalom aleikha Yohanan!

Welcome to this forum!

Well said! I agree with what you said. Let me illustrate what you said further. Brasil might be the best football country in the world now. 5 times world champion! But that doesn't mean that football orignated from Brasil. If one wants to learn the origin of football he or she has to refer to documented evidence in China or England and definitely not Brasil. Likewise, we have to refer to the original texts of the Bible if we want to do exegesis.

Yes, I believe in the existence of the Bible code too. But not the way Michael Drosnin interpreted/hijacked/popularized it. Regarding Aramaic Bible code, you can refer to the works of Glenn Dave Bauscher who is a member of this forum under userid "gbausc" and also one of the members who are currently helping Paul Younan translating the Peshitta Interlinear at this site. Dave Bauscher is the pioneer of Aramaic Bible code and you can read some of his works here at his site:

You are also right about Talmud and Midrash. You have to add Mishnah too. Also the works of some Jewish rabbis like Rambam (Moshe Maimonides) could help in understanding some Hebrew words. The field of Biblical studies is very wide. Because one has to be familiar with early church history, Biblical archaeology, languages of early versions of the Bible like Latin and Greek. German and French are required too to read the works published in that language.

Talmud itself is a volumnous works. I am afraid we will not have enough time to actually concentrate on the Word of God if we have to learn all these things. Not all of us are fortunate enough to devote our time to study all these things as we are not professional Bible scholars.

May God bless you with your plan to create a site on idioms. Perhaps you could play your part by translating Peshitta into Portuguese. I conclude with my all time favourite Midrash that explains the orgin of some passages in the Bible.

According to one midrash, Abraham???s father, Terah, was an idol merchant. One day Terah went out and left the boy in charge of his shop. Abraham smashed all the idols, except for the largest one, into whose hands he placed an ax. When his father returned, Abraham reported that the idols were hungry so he brought them food. Abraham told his father that the largest idol then grabbed the ax, killed all the other idols, and took the food for himself. Terah replied that this was nonsense, since everyone knows that idols of clay and wood cannot talk, move or do anything. Abraham then responded to Terah, ???Father, let your ears hear what your tongue speaks.??? <!-- sBlush --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/blush.gif" alt="Blush" title="Blush" /><!-- sBlush -->

Psalm 114

4 But their idols are silver and gold,

made by the hands of men.

5 They have mouths, but cannot speak,

eyes, but they cannot see;

6 they have ears, but cannot hear,

noses, but they cannot smell;

7 they have hands, but cannot feel,

feet, but they cannot walk;

nor can they utter a sound with their throats.

8 Those who make them will be like them,

and so will all who trust in them.

The midrash is so funny but so true....

Aleicha Shalom, Dan! <!-- sBig Grin --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/happy.gif" alt="Big Grin" title="Happy" /><!-- sBig Grin -->
I thank you the very good reception!
Dan, Ma shlomch??? (How are you?)
Yeah, you are right. The football (for Britain) or soccer (for U.S.A) wasn??t born in Brazil. It originated in England, but there's evidences about this game between the ancient chineses, and the ancient bretons, and in England in the Middle Age. One brazilian, Charles Miller, brought the soccer (or football) to Brazil from England in the nineteen century.

All the christian ministers have to seek the origin of the Christianism in the Judaism, in the jew culture, in my opinion. I'm not jew (but I can be descendant of marranos), but I believe to be necessary to know the original texts of the Bible to do exegesis. You're right!
I think there are distortions in the translations from Septuagina and Vulgata.

About Michael Drosnin, I don't trust in him. Because he has treated this subject with very sensationalism, "preaching" the Armageddon, the World War III, and who discoverd the existence of the Code were the rabbi Weismandel and the mathematician Eliyahu Rips. I deduced that this code could exist also in Aramaic because the Alphabet of Aramaic is the same of the Hebrew, and the Aramaic was used in the biblical ages. It a logical deduction. But I only supposed. Other member of another forum, the "Yeshua Chai" of brazilian messianic jews, he said to me about the Peshitta and the Code in the New Testament in Aramaic.
I'm very happy to know that Glenn Dave Buscher has discoverd the code in the New Testament in Aramaic. If I can help, I wish to help them. If I'm not wrong, the Mishnah is the first part of the Talmud, and the Gemara is the second part. I'm going to be sincere, I myself believe in all the Bible, and I accept much from Mishnah, Gemara, Midrash and Kabbalah. I accept also the Siddur. For example. I don't believe in the existence of the reencarnation, of the transmigration of souls, I don't worship angels, I don't accept everything from Kabbalah. And I don't accept everyting from Talmud too. But I recognize the existence of the ten sephirot, the fact of the hebrew alphabet to be the "raw material" of the Creation (the Word of God), I use the four levels of exegesis of the Judaism, Peshat, Remez, Derush and Sod. The Bible Code is a whole of informations in the level Sod.

I know the history from Midrash about Abraham and his father Terah. <!-- sSmile --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smile.gif" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /><!-- sSmile -->

Dan, in Singapore, are the languages the English, the Chinese and the Malasian? If you wish, you may help-me in my site. Do you know Chinese (Mandarin)? My project of site is to make one site with pages in many idioms. There are more or less 49 countries where the English is spoken, and there're more or less 27 countries where the French is spoken, and there're more or less 21 countries where the Spanish is spoken, and there're more or less 22 countries where the Arabic is spoken, and there're 15 countries where the Russian is spoken. And the Mandarin is spoken in China, Taiwan, Thailand, Malasia and Singapore. I want to make pages in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese and Japanese. I already know Portuguese (my national language), English, Spanish, French and Italian, and I'm learning Hebrew. I intend to learn also German, Russian, Arabic and Japanese (Nin-hongoh). I will need someone who knows Chinese and the languages of India.

Thank you for your attention! <!-- s:biggrin: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/biggrin.gif" alt=":biggrin:" title="Big Grin" /><!-- s:biggrin: -->

Thank you, Chris! <!-- sBig Grin --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/happy.gif" alt="Big Grin" title="Happy" /><!-- sBig Grin -->

Dears friends,

my project of a polyglot site has missionary objective. I want to reach the maximum of souls that I get. For me, is not important if some person prefers to be a baptist, or a presbyterian, or a methodist, or a pentecostal... the most important is the peoples of Earth to receive Yeshua ha-Mashiach(Jesus Christ) like their Lord and Savior, and abandon their pagan religions. I wish to help Jesus. I want to diffuse the faith in the only true God, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. I think I shall do a appeal to islamic peoples, to buddhist peoples... to the people who don't folow the Jesus's doctrine.
But I know many people won't accept my invitation. In the past ages, the religions were nationals, ethinicals. The ancient greek had their gods, the ancient egypcians had their gods, the ancient babylonians had their gods, the persians had their god, and others nations too. Today, the majority of the religions seek new believers. In the age of the Roman Empire, the apostles didn't have cars, or bus, or plane, or helicopter, or motorcycles, or ships with motor, they didn't have televisions, telephones or internet.
But nowadays we have.
All you know, if one church send a missionary to an arabian nation, or to India, or to Pakistan, or to Indonesia, or to China, that missionary is exposed to die, to be murdered, to be tortured, or expeled. The governement of these countries are inplacables to resist the Bible. When will we reach the people of the Tibet, for example?
My strategy is to use the internet to reach those peoples. And to preach the Bible in net, like a world connection. There are pastors who believe the internet is the instrument of the antichrist, of the beast. Because they found that the value of world wide web (WWW) is 666.
But the internet is the cheaper way of world communication, and every time more, new usurers appear. We ourselves are from different nations, we speak different national languages, and we have contac betwen us, and each one of us is in one different country. With a polyglot site, we can send e-mails to arabian usurers, to chinese usurers, to japanese usurers, to african usurers, to east european usurers, and many nations, if we know their languages. We put the Bible, a forum like this, a box of e-mails, images of webcam with pastors preaching, and we can send messages to boxes of e-mails and to cellular telephones too.
Who accept will be saved, and who don't accept, this one had his chance to be saved. You who is reading, if you are baptist, or presbyterian, or methodist, or pentecostal, or lutheran... if you wish, you may use site in favor of your church too, if you wish. The most important is you to help Jesus to save the souls.
And we can teach the new converted christians of arabians nations, China, Japan, India, Pakistan... to be a missionary and to conquer new souls in their countries. The people can do cults in their houses, instead of to construct temples and to be persecuted by the police, by the governement. The ancient roman empire didn't get to destroy the message of Jesus, in spite of the dictatorship, the pretorian guard, the roman army.
