Eli, Eli again.... - Gentile - 03-02-2004 Just for checking purposes, the Aramaic authors the phrase 'my god, my god etc...' as 'El' in reference to God right? Is 'el' actually used in Aramaic because I would have thought he was have said 'My Alh' with the 'h'? Or is there another word in Aramaic called 'El' to refer to God. I know that in Hebrew 'el' is meant to mean 'might' but is this actually used in Aramaic at all? Some say this is only Hebrew and hence Christ spoke Hebrew... Thanks Eli, Eli again ........ - george - 03-03-2004 From the Galilean Aramaic Scriptures:
"Eili, Eili, l'ma-na sh'wik-thani"
meaning: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ( I leave this to Paul Younan, Andrew Gabriel Roth, and other Aramaic scholars to translate the true meaning of the expression). yo-khan |
