Now there's an online Bible of the Septuagint (LXX as we often call it) in pdf trilinear format--the most legible Greek text I've ever seen with an English translation below and Strong's numbers above. Where the sentence structure differs considerably from Greek to English the words are numbered to unscramble the jumble. <!-- s

I've been to this site Larry and it is very impressive. It is important for Bible students to compare different texts.
At least the LXX uses God in the singular like the Peshitta Tanakh unlike the MT. No one gives me a good explanation for the plural elohym.

No Akh I am not that far yet. I am too grateful for the POT and even some LXX examples where Masso mistakes are clarified! If you have DSS examples that fix up contradcitions, do post them in the contradictions forum! It is excellent when people quote maso to give you a contradiction, you just say "yeah but the Bible doesn't say that" <!-- s

Hey Rob, I believe that God preserved His words. Now we all know masso is a joke, but the original HOT must be around SOMEWHERE. DO you know which is? Where a good place to look? Ethiopia?

But who says there necessarily was an original Hebrew text? It is perfectly possible that the early figures of the Bible spoke Aramaic and not Hebrew.
I reckon the LXX is useful, and yes the errors of the MT can be corrected using it as well as the Peshitta Tanakh. Correct me if I am wrong anybody but am I right in thinking that Greek is a language where multiple meanings are more limited in comparison to Semetic languages? I.e. is my studies of Hebrew and Arabic I see that a 3 letter root can yield many meanings, some of which are quite diverse. Is the Greek language more limited in comparison?
