Shlama Akhay,

We'd better stick with a 22-book canon for true Peshitta studies. Sometimes I like to do black-boxing where you have a possible unknown-X Nazarene Apocalypse that was translated into Greek and then into Syriac. R. H. Charles has a totally different approach because it seems that he asserts O. T. quotes from a rival Greek version of Daniel from the pre-Christian era-- revised LXX quotes-(Aquila and Theodotion?) http://www.dabar.org/RHCharles/Revelati ... VII.htm#s2

Still, I can appreciate those who compare Daniel and Revelation with current events such as Frank Caw...

I hear ya Larry. Interesting websites.

Just to remind everyone, I was suggesting a catagory for these books just so they were there for those who wished to dwelve into them. I wasn't calling them canon so as to conflict with the site's intention and background. Not at all.

I pay more attention to what Jesus said about circumstances surrounding His return, since He would know.

But like anything, each book of scripture I wait upon The Lord so that He can reveal to me what I need to know about it. It's much easier that way really. If it's not His, I'm sure He's gonna tell me.

Not being sarcastic fellas, just wanted to express that. Some folks like the extra books, some don't. I in particular love the Odes.

Shlama Akhi Dave,

What you said made me think of an experience I had one time. I asked the Lord how 'divine love' would be defined if I depended totally upon Scripture instead of a lexicon for a definition. He took me to Romans 5:5 to show me that it's the "love of God poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given to us."
Occasionally I'll hear of a minister that walks in a prophet / teacher anointing. This is an interesting 'combination-mantle' because revelation knowledge and 'education knowledge' come forth in unison (or in tandem) from this type of ministry.
The opportunities for spiritual jealousy are abundant when we come into contact with heavily anointed people but we must remember the simple admonition-"I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,"

Ahhh, a word of Knowledge!!!

Thank you Larry!!

The Lord is still opening up different gifts He has placed within me. It will take time for me to understand them, and how to approach people. I'm very distrusting of people at times. What has been spoken through you will help me think of how I present myself to people with my actions and words.

I've recently come into a major understanding of fasts and their ability to allow The Lord to mold and change us to His needs. Just 2 days of a fast broke almost everything that was hindering me. It was such a change that I feel completely different at the moment. I hope many will study this aspect and build a discipline to fast on a regular basis. I know I sure am!!

Thanks again Larry

I'm happy for you Dave

Akhi Dave,

But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

?? And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. (Matthew 6:16-18;5-6)

Merry Christmas !

Thanks Rev Dave

Got all that to heart. Just making a weekly discipline out of it now. Making a routine of fasting from 7:00 Friday evening to 7:00 sunday evening. It is really making a big diference in my spiritual walk!!

. - drmlanc - 12-28-2003

Whoa Akhi Dave, I am very happy you are fasting, but from Friday eve to Saturday eve? I would be careful with that Akhi. Does the Bible not teach that they who fast on the Sabbath must be put to death? I know it's OT but still...

. - drmlanc - 12-28-2003

I can't find the verse at present, is it in Torah or Talmud? Craig?

. - drmlanc - 12-28-2003

My bad. Its's not in the OT, it's "Jewish reckoning". They reckon that firstly the Sabbath is a feast day, not a fast day (Lev.23:1-3) and that fasting makes the Sabbath "gloomy". Moreover, many pagan influences have tried to introduce fasting on the Sabbath, as an attack on the Sabbath keeping Jews.

Far be it from me to accept "Jewish reckoning". Just be careful that you don't weaken yourself with your Sabbath fasting, the Sabbath is for rest and replenishment

Oh yeah, that too...

Here's a little Sabbath anecdote of mine. Unfortuantely I work (now 'worked') Friday afternoon and would always have to stop at 6 pm, refusing to work further because of the Sabbath. Instead of dissing me, they gave me the Friday morning shift Now I even have time to get home and prepare for the Sabbath before it begins

No worries guys, The Almighty has a way of letting me know when to stop. As long as it is santified to Him, He's watching over us. Fasting is something you work up to, as far as for long periods. You get some idea just how much divine strength our Lord had to do a 40 day and night fast, at the drop of a hat.

I'm only doing 2 day ones for now. Plenty of time to wait on The Lord that way, and let Him do a cleansing and filling.

Greetings; It's most enjoying reading and witnessing you guys working in unison torwards the same goal which is to please the father and promote his will for all. This might sound out of line but could'nt this same type of love, support, and understanding be of some help to mr. conder seeing that something at one time shook his faith to the point that most seem to think it will not return. I myself felt that it was a waste of time in the past even to consider trying to comprehend what might bother him but as I have listened more and asked in prayer this is what I keep coming up with. Mr. Conder would problably tell me not to waste my time praying for him but that's not what the scriptures teach me. I think you all have done a marvolus job entertaining him and proving him wrong especially where the peshitta is concerned but I never sense any kind teachings that we were all taught meaning 'love' that might possibly save this mans soul at a time where large amonts of knowledge as he has would be a benifet to the teachings of the new testament. It's kind of a different twist Chris but I would love to see you incorperate this in your debate with him as you are one of the fathers great warriors that could help bring him back with your great strength and knowledge in scripture. It's been said in the past as I know my good friend Dave will attest too, that we as tools of the father will be used at times for the carring out of his perfect will for this world in hopes that more will seek the Lords presence. Happy Holidays! Richard

. - drmlanc - 12-29-2003

Hey Richard,

I wouldn't call myself one of the Father's great warriors , I am just a servant, happy to be a part of all this. As for Conder, yeah you have the idea. This is partly why in my last response I have brought up the issue of evolution. Also, "Bible errors" played a big role in his leaving the faith, which I will be happy to refute. Another big issue that helped him leave Christianity is that of judging God, the same issue that helped his Rabbi friend leave Judaism. This I intend to address in the debate also, as he points out to me all the "atrocities" God does in the OT. Hopefully by refuting all the major points that led him to leave the faith, he will maybe see the error of his ways. Maybe not but hopefully so. After all, if this man is a "lost sheep", then the Lord may very well "leave us" 99 sheep to go and get this one back, just as in the parable Conder quoted. Wouldn't that be marvellous
