Re: peshitta text - SteveCaruso - 10-21-2014 I presently have in my possession a fully collated copy of the Gospel of Mark between the UBS and the Khabouris and I was able to do it programmatically in under 10 minutes. The question now is: What do I do with it? <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!-- s --> Peace, -Steve Re: peshitta text - Thirdwoe - 10-21-2014 What I would do, is after I checked each word and each letter in the Khabouris text, against other Eastern Peshitta manuscripts, such as The 1199 (Asahel Grant) and the Mingana Codex, which is a Masora text, I'd then put the text in place (without any scribal errors) in the apparatus section, like you have there in the collation. A note could be given for the correction, which as I have seen so far should be just a few small instances. Also, do you see that variant in Mark 1:2 there. Notice how the reading in the Khabouris has agreement with all the others versions except the UBS/BSBF text. I have seen that this reading is quite usual when a quotation is given in the text. It seems to be a feature of the Aramaic NT. I'm not sure if it is universal in the Peshitta text, but I have come across it many many times. Re: peshitta text - Thirdwoe - 10-21-2014 Also, I'm curious where the Khabouris text came from, that you used for that collation of Mark's Gospel? Aye proclitic /d-/ is common across a number of diialects to introduce direct quotations, taking on a similar meaning to "that" (amar d-flan XYZ = "he said that so-and-so XYZ"). Thirdwoe Wrote:Also, I'm curious where the Khabouris text came from, that you used for that collation of Mark's Gospel? On the collation page I eyeballed the first 8 verses. With the full book I used Silver's transcription as put up on Dukhrana, re-encoded it to CAL encoding and put it into both the master file and a separate collation which is just the UBS and Khabouris together. The latter took about 7 minutes for the collation script to chew through, plus another minute to typeset; however, I haven't run the former as I'm still entering the Vatican, Sinai, and Harris CPA codices which have to be transcribed by hand.
