apostles - sean - 09-02-2013 hi in greek the word for apostle is masculine. What is the case for the word in aramaic ? Thank you. Re: apostles - distazo - 09-02-2013 It is 'shliho', and it is male gender. Re: apostles - ScorpioSniper2 - 09-02-2013 I think it's Shlikha in the Eastern Syriac dialect. Re: apostles - sean - 09-03-2013 hi thanks for the replys. So this means their is no such thing as a woman that is an apostle Re: apostles - SteveCaruso - 09-04-2013 sean Wrote:hi thanks for the replys. So this means their is no such thing as a woman that is an apostle Not necessarily. The standard word for "apostle" is simply grammatically masculine by default, not inherently masculine. Conceivably it could be inflected in the feminine form, or used to describe female individuals (as all it means is "sent one"). There wouldn't be anything really preventing it. |
