what to you and to me? John 2:4 - abudar2000 - 07-28-2013

shlom lokh oH Paul,

It has been a while since I last posted on this forum, I hope all goes well with you.

I was looking at your Interlinear of John 2:4, specifically the meaning of the idiom "what to you and to me?", as "What do you want from me?". Wouldn't a more accurate translation of this idiom be "why does this concern us?" or "why is this our issue?".

Shlama lakh Akhan,

I miss your presence brother, how are you?

I know - the translation of the interlinear forces one at times to choose the literal, rather than the figurative (I tried to stay literal unless it made absolutely no sense, in which case I underlined the phrase and inserted the idiom.) This one could have gone either way, I understand it - but I guess it's rather rough in the English.

Same here, but I still lurk around from time to time.

I'm doing good, my ongoing theology studies have kept me away from actively participating here.
