revelation - sean - 03-22-2012

hi a friend told me today that in revelation 6-8, the pale horse has been mistranslated, in the greek it is a 'green' horse. So I wanted to know in aramaic for this verse, how is it translated into english from the aramaic. Thank you.

Shlama Akhi Sean:
Indeed, there is a double meaning of the Aramaic word "yorka". Yorka means both "herb" and "pale". Herbs are usually green. Perhaps this is why John Wesley Etheridge translated the word as "green", while James Murdock, Lamsa and the King James Version from the Greek read "pale".

Aramaic-English Lexicon word #9533: "yorka", herb, pale.

Shlama,
