Shalom Re: Interlinear of Revelation 1:1 PLEASE - ograabe - 07-12-2010 Here are the English meanings of the Aramaic words from right to left: The Revelation of Jesus the Messiah that gave to him God to show to his servents what must happen soon And he made [this] known when he sent by way of his angel top his servant John. Re: Interlinear of Revelation 1:1 PLEASE - ograabe - 07-12-2010 Sorry I misspelled some words above: Here are the English meanings of the Aramaic words from right to left: The revelation of Jesus the Messiah that gave to him God to show to his servants what must happen soon. And he made [this] known when he sent by way of his angel to his servant John. Re: Interlinear of Revelation 1:1 PLEASE - Iejezquel - 07-16-2010 Thank you, I have heard that the translation of Revelation 1:1 is always ambiguous. For example, some said that it can be: "The revelation of Yahshua the Messiah that gives/gave (it) Elohim to show..." Re: Interlinear of Revelation 1:1 PLEASE - ograabe - 07-16-2010 Rev 1:1 The revelation of Jesus the Messiah that God gave to him to show to his servants what must happen soon. And he made [this] known when he sent [it] by way of his angel to his servant John, Re: Interlinear of Revelation 1:1 PLEASE - Jerry - 08-20-2010 (... d:yahb leh alohah ... ) "... of-gave to-him the-Aloh ..." Over time, I have acclimated myself to the Aramaic syntax, so that makes sense to me. But to the English ear, it would probably make more sense as: "... of which the Aloh gave to him..." And of course, "the-Aloh" or "Alohah" is typically rendered "God" in English, or originally "Elohim" in Hebrew. Re: Interlinear of Revelation 1:1 PLEASE - konway87 - 08-20-2010 I have this question. Is this verse from Western Peshitto or from Crawford Codex? Re: Interlinear of Revelation 1:1 PLEASE - Jerry - 08-20-2010 What I have transliterated is from the 1905/1920 western 5 Harklean available on Dukhrana. I have noticed that the New York 1886, also available on Dukhrana, and which I assume to be of eastern origin, includes what appears to be (haw) before (d:yahb) in Rev 1:1: (... haw d:yahb leh alohah ...) "... that of-gave to-him the-Aloh ..." For what its worth, the Greek Westcott-Hort also uses a form of (haw) in the verse, matching that of the eastern NY 1886. |
