City 'marjah' - distazo - 04-13-2010

It seems there is a city 'marjah' near the border of Iran in Afghanistan.

I was just wondering, co?ncidence or an ancient left over of an aramaic past?

What mean this world> Maryah?
Thx.

Re: City 'marjah' - distazo - 06-11-2010

Mar-Yah is Aramaic for Jahweh (Hebrew)

Sure?

No I just made that up <!-- sSmile --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smile.gif" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /><!-- sSmile -->

Clarification. How do we know that?

Because in the Hebrew OT, at every place (a few exceptions) where we have YHWH, there is at that place, in the ARamaic Targum, Mar-Yah. Mar-Yah is applied _only_ to God, not to somebody else.

The same Mar-Yah occurs 215 in the NT.

OK. Thx. I understand. Please give me two examples. One from OT and one from NT.
