The Odes Project - WOW - Paul Younan - 10-25-2008

Shlama Akhay,

Has anyone seen this yet? From the earliest Christian hymnal, the Odes of Solomon (1st century Aramaic hymnal)

The music sounds great!

Interesting story behind that. About a century ago, the only manuscripts that were in the hands of western scholars were Greek, then guess what happened? A quaker who traveled in Iraq and collected manuscripts came upon one he obtained from the CoE found the original Aramaic odes on his bookshelf years later. I have a copy of them here at home.

After a thorough examination J. Rendel Harris (the discoverer) and other scholars now believe they found the Aramaic behind the Greek.

It's amazing really. To think those aramaic speaking first century believers had the odes in Aramaic but they never bothered to have the NT in Aramaic till centuries later.

Sounds believable......not!

Is there still a copy of the Aramaic or is it lost now? Just curious to see it.
