Khaburis Matthew 15:26 - nashama - 10-23-2004

Hi Paul:
The Khaburis manuscript (page 36) includes "Yeshua" as the third word in Matthew 15:26.

Yeshua said to her; it is not good to take the children's bread and to cast it to the dogs.

Khaburis Matthew 15:26 - nashama - 10-25-2004

Hi Paul:
Perhaps I should elaborate on the significance of the inclusion of Yeshua in Matthew 15:26. It is contained in the Eastern text of the Peshitta. As well as the Khaburis, it's found in THE NEW COVENANT ARAMAIC PESHITTA TEXT WITH HEBREW TRANSLATION.

Your comments are always highly regarded.

Shlama Akhi Stephen,

Thanks for the tip - I will change the interlinear tonight.

Check your messages.

Dear Paul:

The WORD documents of the Aramaic Peshitta at Peshitta.org do not seem to have this additional word. Are these WORD documents the historical Eastern Peshitta text?

Otto

Shlama Akhi Otto,

No, they are the Western text based upon the United Bible Society's edition. They are also a work in progress.

Dear Paul;

Thanks for your informative reply. Does this mean that your interlinear translation is based on the Peshitto rather than the Peshitta? I gues I am confused.

Sincerely,

Otto

Shlama Akhi Otto,

The steps involved in creating the Interlinear are:

(1) Copy the text of the Word Files (UBS Peshitto text) which is 95% the same as the eastern text
(2) Proof read word-for-word against the printed 1891 Mosul edition (eastern text)
(3) Translate

We will be adding a third level of poof-reading, that against the Khabouris manuscript.

Akhan Stephen Silver has volunteered to be on the Editing Committee (along with Larry Kelsey, Editor in Chief ) and Rev. David Bauscher has also joined the translation team and will be working on other chapters and books.

Things are going to start picking up again.

Dear Paul:

I have another short question about the Peshitta text. My Logos Computer program has THE PESHITTA, Copyright ?? 2003 George A. Kiraz. [Bellingham, WA: Logos Research Systems, inc.] It has 27 books including Revelation in Estrangelo with markings. Is this actually the Western Peshitto?

MATTHEW

Thanks...

Shlama Akhi Otto,

Yes, that is the western ("Jacobite") text. There currently is no electronic copy of the eastern (Church of the East, Persian, etc.) text.
